Nope, we’re not going to sell Moderna vaccines, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said, despite what its chairman, Senator Richard Gordon, had said in a television interview.
Confused? So are we.
In a statement posted online yesterday, PRC’s Governor Maria Clarissa Coscolluela said that Gordon “never announced” that Red Cross is selling COVID jabs.

“What he said was that the PRC procured Moderna COVID 19 vaccines and intends to vaccinate Red Cross members and donors, who are also our members, who are willing to bear the cost of the vaccines, which was US$26.83 per dose plus an administration fee that covers costs for syringes, gloves, PPEs, meals and allowances of our doctors and nurses, and other essential expenses related to the vaccination,” she said.
However, Gordon’s statement was made in an interview on Headstart, and clips of it had been shared online. He said that if Filipinos are “going to wait for the [government’s] vaccines to come, we’re going to be late.”
“So those of you who cannot wait, you pay P3,500 and that’s two doses already,” he said of the Moderna jabs, which his organization procured through billionaire Enrique Razon.

A Google doc has been going around on social media, where people can supposedly pre-register for the PRC’s vaccine.
Pinoys believe that Western-made vaccines such as Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and even AstraZeneca are superior to their China-made counterparts. Just this morning, thousands of Filipinos showed up at a Manila hotel to get the Pfizer jab, but only 900 doses were given.
