Peta has received 5 ‘serious calls’ about Dasmariñas Village serial cat killer

Residents of Dasmariñas Village in Makati are still living in trepidation because of an alleged presence of a serial cat killer among them.

It’s been a week since the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced a PHP50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person — or persons, a Coconuts Manila source says — responsible for the disappearance and/or murder of around 12 community cats.

One cat, in particular, was said to have suffered a slow painful death from chemical burns after paint thinner was poured over its body.

The person in charge of feeding the cats also received an angry letter that was left on his car. It warned, “You stop feeding the cats!! Our village is no cat sanctuary. Or else…”

According to PETA, no arrests have been made or suspects called to explain or give a statement so far. The good news? It has received five serious calls since the announcement as well as “reports about other cruelty cases.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the PETA Asia hotline at +63 999 8887382.
