The company printing those ugly MRT cards could get tax exemption

The company that makes those flimsy, fading and non-sterilized MRT cards is asking for tax exemption.

The supplier of magnetic cards for the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 has filed an application with the Board of Investments for the expansion of its facility in Manggahan Industrial Park in Pasig City, reports Louella D. Desiderio in The Philippine Star.

The firm, called Banner Plasticard Inc, is said to be the first Filipino-owned pioneering venture in card manufacturing.

Incorporated in 1984, it “can qualify for incentives such as as exemption from income tax and other perks if their applications would be approved by the BOI…as the government offers incentives to firms which invest in priority economic activities.”

Go figure.
