In case you need another reason to hang on to the Christmas spirit: photos of aspins (short for asong Pinoy or Filipino dog) engaging in a classic Christmas party game of pabitin made the rounds on social media, evoking heart eyes among netizens all around.
These photos were from The Homeless Dog Shelter, a non-profit dog shelter based in Subic, Zambales that held a Christmas party for these adorable rescues, some of whom have not experienced Christmas yet as they lived on the streets.
Traditionally played as a party game for children who try to snatch toys and candies attached on a bamboo grid above their heads, shelter dogs jumped, skipped, and chomped away on hanging hotdogs.
“Our shelter rescues had their fair share of celebrating Christmas yesterday,” The Homeless Dog Shelter wrote on Facebook.
“I would like to thank Ms. Bridgette Buyea for making this lovely evening possible for our rescues. Some of them are new to our shelter and haven’t experienced having a Merry Christmas yet since they were living in the streets, for that, we thank you.”
The shelter also made a plea for animal lovers and supporters to help them secure enough food and maintenance supplies for the care of these rescues.
“As 2022 is approaching, the first trimester is always the biggest challenge for us as we hardly obtain target donations for the food security and health maintenance budget of our rescues. Thus, our furry friends are in need of Secret Santas for the security of their first trimester,” the shelter wrote.
The Homeless Dog Shelter asked their followers to donate goods such as dog and cat food, cleaning supplies, and other items that can help them take better care of the animals.
Supporters may also make monetary donations to cover the treatment and medical emergencies of these rescues.
