Remember the retired narcotics detection dogs (NDD) that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) wanted to give up for adoption? Well, they’ve found their fur-ever home.

Today, PDEA officially gave them to their new families in an adoption ceremony in San Jose, Bulacan.

According to the PDEA’s Facebook post today, those who were adopted were nine Belgian Malinois, two Jack Russell Terriers, one German Shepherd, and one Golden Retriever.

The PDEA assured the public that all of the adoptive families underwent a strict screening process before they were allowed to keep the dogs. The families were made to prove that they would take care of the dogs properly and provide ample food, grooming, and proper health care.

However, according to CNN Philippines, PDEA’s officers will visit the dogs occasionally to check if the families are taking care of them properly.

Together with their handlers, the NDDs were responsible for searching for illegal drugs in commercial establishments, jails, ports, and checkpoints.

In their Facebook post, the PDEA said that they still have some retired NDDs that are available for adoption and invited interested families looking for pets to apply.
