There was something fishier than usual at the Navotas Fish Port this week and, as Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives found, it was a drug deal.
According to the PDEA, local fish porters Gilbert Gilbuena, Salvador Escalicas Jr., and Ariel Rosales will be charged for selling shabu, illegal possession of firearms, and direct assault after they were arrested in a sting operation.
“They were caught red-handed selling a sachet containing shabu weighing approximately five grams to an undercover PDEA agent who posed as buyer, in exchange for the 500-peso buy-bust money,” PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. said.
The three resisted arrest “and suffered several bruises, abrasions and contusions resulting from a scuffle with our operatives”, PDEA said.
The agents recovered a strip of aluminum foil, a cal.38 revolver, a fan knife, an ice pick, and handcuffs from the suspects.
