PDEA gives over PHP3.5 million to informants

In the future, they should go for better-sounding code names.

“On Monday, Mar 31, five civilian informants were given over PHP3.5 million in cash rewards from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) information collection program,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com. (That’s collectively, not each.)

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. explained, “Operation Private Eye (OPE) is a reward and incentive scheme designed to counter fear and lack of concern as stumbling blocks to active participation of the citizenry in reporting any suspected illegal drug activities in their communities.”

Naturally, Cacdac could only refer to the five informants by their code names: Cold Ice 2, Storm, Tiger, Eboy, and Playboy.

So, there’s somebody with the code name Cold Ice 1? (Plus, does the PDEA logo look psychedelic to you, too?)
