Passenger faints on LRT-1’s rails, grinding operations to halt for 24 minutes

The LRT-1 was forced to suspend its operations for several minutes today after an unidentified passenger fainted on the train line’s tracks at about 6:45am.

The passenger was at the Doroteo Jose station in Santa Cruz, Manila when she felt dizzy and fell onto the tracks, LRT-1 spokeswoman Jacqueline Gorospe told The Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Train operations had to be halted for 24 minutes, and the passenger was ultimately brought to a hospital for medical treatment, according to ABS-CBN News. She incurred bruises in the fall and is currently being observed by medical specialists.

The incident left many passengers stuck on the train’s southbound route, the Philippine Star reports.  The LRT-1’s management apologized to affected passengers and reminded them to inform a security guard if they are feeling ill so they can receive medical help.
