Pasig vice mayor’s staff blames printing company for banner typo

They say it’s the thought that counts — but we’re not exactly sure how teachers reacted to this.

To mark World Teachers’ Day on Oct 5, Pasig City vice mayor Iyo Caruncho Bernardo had some banners hung up in selected areas in the city.

Unfortunately, the banners that bore the greeting from Bernardo had a glaring mistake. It read: “Salamat po, titser! World Techears’ Day.”

“At least eight banners carrying the message attributed to Bernardo were placed in different areas in Pasig City on Tue morning, Oct 4, but were already taken down and replaced with corrected versions that evening,” reports Katrina Domingo on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Bernardo’s office later released a statement, which read, “Ito po ay hindi namin sinasadya at ito po ay inayos na.”

(“We apologize for the mistake, and it has already been corrected.”)

So what caused the error?

The report noted: “Bernardo’s staff said that the printing company that took care of the lay-out and printing of the materials was responsible for the spelling mistake. However, Bernardo’s staff also admitted that they were unable to check the final output before the banner were hung in public.”

Ultimately, Bernardo’s team had this plea: “We hope that netizens would stop sharing and ridiculing the picture of the faulty material so as not to blow the issue out of proportion.”
