Pasay relocates informal settlers for NAIA Expressway

Pasay City has relocated 21 informal settler families in anticipation of construction of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway Phase 2.

The families, whom Mayor Antonino Calixto said relocated voluntarily, were transferred to a government housing project in Trece Martires, Cavite.  The relocation is part of the city’s relocation program for informal settlers forced to move by government projects and those living in danger zones.

“We can report to the President that the city government of Pasay is doing its part in facilitating the right of way of this flagship program of his administration while at the same time providing decent and affordable housing to our constituents,” the mayor said.

Families who relocated voluntarily were given P5,000 as financial assistance and will be exempt from paying rent on their new homes for a year. They will have to pay rent monthly after that.

Another 29 families are expected to relocate on August 29.

The 7.5-kilometer elevated expressway project is expected to provide motorists better access to NAIA and to Philippine Gaming Corp. Entertainment City in Paranaque. The expressway will also connect to the Skyway toll road.
