Typhoon Ruby is not expected to directly hit Metro Manila, but the local government of Pasay City is not taking any chances.

“On Thursday, December 4, the Pasay City local government convened the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) to discuss precautionary measures as Typhoon Ruby is expected to make landfall on Saturday,” reports ABS-CBNNews.com.

Pasay City Administrator and overall coordinator of the CDRRMO Atty. Dennis Acorda was quoted as saying, “Pasay City is now on high monitoring mode alert for Typhoon Ruby. We will automatically be on Yellow Alert once it hits land in Eastern Samar on Saturday.”

Acorda added that the local government “is taking all necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of residents as early as now, in order to maintain the city’s ‘zero casualty’ status.”

The report noted: “The Pasay Rescue Team and the Tricycle Franchise and Regulatory Office will continuously monitor weather changes within Pasay. Meanwhile, the Pasay Public Information Office monitors announcements and advisories from PAGASA as it answers inquiries and issues advisories to the media and the general public through Twitter and Facebook.”
