PAO chief accuses cops of fabricating evidence in Laguna murder case

In a dzBB interview on Tue, Mar 22, Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta accused the police of fabricating evidence against Richard Sta. Ana, who has been accused of hiring two men to kill his wife Peal and one-year-old son Denzel.

GMA News Online quoted Acosta as saying, “Ang punto rito ay katotohanan lang sana, walang imbentuhan. Kaya naniniwala akong imbento sila (The point here is that we have to have the truth. There should be no fabircation. I believe they’re just fabricating things).”

Acosta then argued that Sta. Ana has no means to pay the killers the full sum of PHP60,000 because he was jobless. It was reported that Sta. Ana has supposedly made the initial payment of PHP10,000 to the killers.

“Si Richard walang trabaho, nagpapadala lang ang nanay niya na nasa Japan ng pagkain niya at panghulog ng bahay (Richard has no job. His mother sends them money from Japan for their food expenses and payment for their house),” Acosta pointed out.

Sta. Rosa police chief Superintendent Reynaldo Maclang denied Acosta’s allegation. He said, “The police of Sta. Rosa is not fabricating evidence, we are just collecting and gathering evidence. Wala tayong personal na galit sa kanya (We’re not targeting Richard).”
