Everyone’s fired up over the upcoming Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. With time difference considered, the fight will be broadcast on May 3 in the Philippines.
“In light of the much-awaited fight, Malacañang repeated assurances of the Department of Energy (DoE) that on May 3 Filipinos would be able to watch the Pacquiao-Mayweather mega fight without power interruption,” reports Journal Online.
Presidential communications secretary Sonny Coloma Jr. explained that “the DoE is exerting best efforts to address any possible power deficiency and prevent power outages in Luzon and Metro Manila especially during the “Battle for Greatness” between Pacman and Mayweather.”
Coloma stated, “Ginagawa ng Department of Energy ang lahat ng nararapat na hakbang upang maagapan at matugunan ang anumang maaaring kakulangan sa suplay ng kuryente upang maiwasan ang pagkakaroon ng mga brownout.”
The report noted: “The onset of summer could affect power supply and the government has been discussing for months the need for emergency powers to address the possible brownouts across the country. But Coloma reiterated that the DoE is on top of the situation.”
