Palace warns car owners with ‘Du30’ plates

President Rodrigo Duterte is not happy with seeing his name on commemorative car plates.

On Sun, Jul 10, Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Martin Andanar warned about an imminent crackdown on abusive car owners and traffic violators with car plates bearing the name of the President, Inquirer reports.

The government does not condone the violation of the country’s transportation and traffic laws, he said.

He even encourages the public to report abusive motorists using Du30 plates.

“The President has always been for equality, fairness and justice,” Andanar told government-owned dzRB radio.

The plates are easily available and a quick Google search revealed that they can be bought  on the online shopping site OLX for PHP250.

They are also widely sold on streets.

It may be recalled that during the height of the campaign season, enterprising traders capitalized on Duterte’s popularity for business. Duterte shirts, mugs, keychains, umbrellas, baller IDs and even bread were sold.

Duterte continues to be an icon in the Philippines and his popularity remains good for certain businesses.
