An improved traffic situation will make a world of difference for Filipinos who waste aways hours travelling on the road.
100 days — that’s what the government asked for to change things.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella vowed to improve the grueling traffic gridlock in Metro Manila in 100 days after listening to the proposals presented by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade during the second Cabinet meeting on Mon, Jul 12.
“Secretary Tugade made a presentation yesterday and already they have a menu of changes which could very positively impact the rate of traffic flow soon, very soon,” Abella said.
Among the proposals were alternative locations for ticketing offices and “nicer and better waiting rooms” for commuters, Inquirer reports.
Earlier, it was reported that the Duterte administration plans to seek emergency powers from Congress to solve the traffic woes in the next two years.
The emergency powers will allow the government to secure property and right of way within private villages, and also supersede local government ordinances and temporary injunction against acts that would facilitate lighter traffic flow in the metropolis.
“I’m sure within the next 100 days, we’re going to see results. Already there seems to be some, right?” Abella said.
