Palace not threatened by another ‘Million People March’

In other words, “deadma”?

“Malacañang is unfazed by civil society groups’ plans to hold another ‘Million People March’ against the pork barrel scam on June 12, Independence Day,” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent RG Cruz on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Last year’s march preceded the abolition of the pork barrel system.

According to the report, the organizers of the June 12 rally have reportedly “demanded for the resignation of all tagged in the scam, including members of the Aquino Cabinet.”

Amid these reports, Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Sonny Coloma called for some levelheaded intervention.

“Baka po napa-panahon na i-reiterate po natin ang posisyon ng Pangulo (Maybe it’s time to reiterate the position of the President): In accordance with the guidance of the President, the government remains committed to pursuing evidence-based inquiry and that any legal actions shall be based on firm and substantiated proof that can pass judicial scrutiny,” Coloma stated.

He also added, “The President believes that filing weak cases based on speculation or supported only by unverified information will be an exercise in futility, as those accused can go scot-free by invoking the principle of double jeopardy.”

The report said that “Coloma maintained President Aquino’s stance asserting the presumption of innocence of Cabinet officials.”
