PAGASA’s warning: ‘Florita’ may be coming

If she shows up, it would make her Storm No. 6.

“In its latest weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported a low pressure area (LPA) estimated at 430 kilometers west northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur but still out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR),” reports Mary Rose A. Hogaza in Manila Bulletin.

The report said that “PAGASA is expecting the LPA to enter the country since it is almost in the boundary.” The report added, “the LPA will be named ‘Florita’ if it becomes a cyclone.”

If the LPA does intensify into a cyclone, it is “expected to bring rains to Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of islands, Ilocos region, Cordillera and Central Luzon.”

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains. PAGASA said Luzon will also experience moderate to strong winds.
