PAGASA says get ready for El Niño

He’s one “guest” we don’t want in our turf.

“The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has announced that the country may experience El Niño by June,” reports ANC.

The phenomenon, which causes extremes of reduced rainfalls and flooding, may peak in the last quarter of 2014 and may last until the first quarter of 2015.

The report noted: “Some of the most devastating typhoons occur during El Niño years, such as Typhoon Milenyo (2006) and Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng (2009).”
