If you need an excuse to crank up the air conditioner, this is it.
“Based on Pagasa’s forecast, the maximum heat index will range this week from 38.7 to 39.4 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila,” reports DJ Yap in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The report explained that “the heat index calculates what the temperature feels like in one’s body, rather than the actual temperature reading.”
The report went on to note: “A heat index of between 32 and 41 degrees must be taken with ‘extreme caution,’ as it may cause heat cramps, or muscle spasms resulting from loss of salt and water, and heat exhaustion.”
