PAGASA keeps watch on new storm

International weather agencies US Navy and Air Force’s Joint Typhoon Watch Center (JTWC) and the  Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) have said that a tropical cyclone (international name: Bavi) has formed in the western Pacific and could enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by next week on Wednesday, Mar 18.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is now keeping a close watch on the storm.

“The JTWC’s latest advisory said the storm will pack maximum sustained winds of 111 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 139 kph after it hits Guam and enters the PAR by March 18,” reports ABS-CBNnew.com.

Once its enters PAR, the storm will be locally called “Betty.”
