It looks like that Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch no one wants to watch is happening sooner rather than later.
In an interview with reporters yesterday, Manny Pacquiao confirmed that the fight is slated for December this year, Rappler reported. Ring Magazine had a similar report and said that possible dates would be Dec. 1 or 8.
That’s less than three months away, you guys. Not nearly enough time to get people excited.
Reports of a possible rematch between the famous boxers surfaced over the weekend after Floyd Mayweather Jr. posted on Instagram on Sunday with the caption: “I’m coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year. Another 9 figure pay day on the way.”
The characteristically cocky statement came with a video showing Mayweather and Pacquaio taunting each other in a concert.

Pacquiao quickly followed that up by posting a video of the same encounter on his Twitter.

During his interview with reporters yesterday, Pacman said they were at a concert in Tokyo and that the idea of a rematch came from Mayweather.
While the videos were meant to excite boxing fans about the rematch, an overwhelming number of people have said that they are not looking forward to watching it. Like, at all.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have decided to dust off their retirement gloves and head back to the ring for yet another one of those boring, yet overrated, bouts. We are not respected on this earth yazi…

Pass. They’re both past their prime.
There’s more exciting fights to see:

Billed as The Fight of The Century, many found the 2015 fight between the two boxers disappointing and, well, pretty boring.
Mayweather ended up winning the fight via unanimous decision thanks to a defensive strategy but it was nowhere near as entertaining as people expected it to be.
The hype was not real in that one.
CNN Philippines reported that Pacquiao said the date of the upcoming rematch will be finalized by this week. However, he was still a little coy about the details, even hinting that he could be fighting someone else.
“The details of the fight with Mayweather or with somebody will be finalized this week,” Pacquiao said in Filipino.
He also told reporters that he expects the upcoming rematch to be a “big fight.”
“Fans’ reaction to us simply meeting was already wild,” Pacquiao added.
Guess he hasn’t been paying much attention to the Twitter reactions.
He also told reporters today that he’s excited to finally fight in the United States again. “It’s been a while since I went to the U.S.,” he said, as reported by The Philippine Star.
Pacquiao’s last fight in the U.S. was in 2016 when he won against American boxer Jessie Vargas.
