Pacquiao denies planning to file Senate leave for boxing comeback this year

Senator Manny Pacquiao didn’t exactly deny the fact that he has reactivated his boxing career.

On Wed, Jul 13, Pacquiao denied reports that he will go on leave in the Senate so that he can return to the ring later this year.

ESPN and BoxingScene.com has earlier reported that according to Pacquiao’s promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, the boxer-turned-politician is set to return to the ring with a yet-to-be-named opponent later this year.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Pacquiao declared: “There is no truth to media reports that I’m planning to take a leave from my Senate duties just to fight again atop the ring.”

He explained: “I want to make it clear — my priority is my legislative works. My next fight has not yet been discussed. Should there be any, I’ll make sure it will not interfere with my Senate duties.”

He also added, “When I ran for Senator last May 9 elections, I made a promise to be present in all sessions. I owe it to the people. If ever I decide to fight again, rest assured, it will happen when Congress is on recess, so there’s no need for me to go on leave.”

In any case, Pacquiao has already missed the orientation at the Senate on Jun 27.

The famous athlete emphasized that boxing is his only way to make a living for his family. Politics, on the other hand, is his vocation.

His announcement brought mixed reactions from his fans.

There were those who agreed with his decision not to fight at this time.

There were also those who expressed their desire to see the Pacman on the ring once more.

What do you think is the real score?
