We’re sure Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) chief Kim Henares will be glad to hear this.

“Sarangani Representative and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao emerged as the richest member of the House of Representatives for the fifth straight year, according to records of the Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net (SALN) worth for 2014 of the members of the House of Representatives,” reports Lira Dalangin-Fernandez, InterAksyon.com.

Pacquiao’s net worth is at PHP1.6 billion.

The report noted: “Meanwhile, Speaker Feliciano Belmonte is the second richest member, with PHP921.5 million net worth, followed by Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos with PHP917.8 million.”

By contrast, the “poorest” member of the 290-strong chamber is Anakpawis partylist Representative Fernando Hicap with a net worth of PHP95,572.

The report went on to point out: “The summary of the SALN of the congressmen can be accessed at the House of Representatives web site (www.congress.gov.ph). The detailed SALN, however, of the congressmen may be disclosed only after the approval of the individual House members.”
