At 37-years-old, Manny Pacquiao slipped to some degree, but he remains an impressive athlete.
The Pacman was ranked as the eight pound-for-pound boxer in the February edition of Sports Illustrated. He is the oldest athlete on the list.
Roman Gonzales, a Nicaraguan boxer, took the top spot. Other notable boxers in the top ten are Genady Golovkin, Andre Ward and Pacman’s rival, Timothy Bradley.
Pacman’s defeats from Juan Miguel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are the main reasons for his lower rankings.
Marquez knocked out Manny in a match in 2012, and Mayweather won by decision in match last year.
Ironically, both Marquez and Mayweather are not on the list. Marquez has been inactive since defeating Mike Alvarado in 2014. Mayweather announced his retirement after his match with Manny last year.
Pacman is scheduled to have his third bout with Tiimothy Bradley on April 9. It will be his last before his retirement.
According to SI, “It will be a subdued end to what has been one of the most glorious and etertaining careers in recent boxing history.”
Manny is known for being the only boxer who won eight titles in different divisions of the sport.
