A cellphone that overheated while being charged caused a fire on Sun night, Sep 18, in Sampaloc, Manila.
“The fire reportedly began at the second floor of one of the houses in the area at around 7pm. The fire quickly spread within the house and onto the adjacent homes which were all made of light materials,” reports Itchie Cabayan on Journal Online.
Overall, at least PHP3-million worth of properties went up in smoke from the fire. Some 30 houses were affected.
The report went on to cite Bureau of Fire Protection personnel Crisfo Diaz, who appealed to the public “not to leave anything plugged and unattended, since this practice could cause fire.”
The fire was contained at around 11pm.
