Over 60 unexploded WWII bombs retrieved since 2008

The Quezon City Police District warned the public against unexploded vintage bombs. Since 2008, police have reported that there have been more than 60 bombs found in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus alone. Some of the bombs date back to World War II.

These were usually discovered during digging operations within the sprawling campus. The tally of discovered bombs included 63 25-pound drop bombs, a 60mm mortar shell, a fragmentation hand grenade, and two 155mm shells.  Last February 28, workers found a 25-pound bomb while they were digging.

The campus was the former site of a Japanese military garrison and was the target of US bombers, GMA News reported.
