Ortigas clan feud: 2 nieces fight uncles over Greenhills, Pasig estates

The landed Ortigas clan his reportedly embroiled in a family feud, as sisters on the Litton-Ortigas branch have filed a case against their uncles controlling the developer Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership,” reports Victor C. Agustin on InterAksyon.

In other words, money is the issue.

The report noted: “According to the legal grapevine, Edwina Angelica Michelle Litton Ortigas and Francesca Litton Ortigas, daughters of the late Jose Miranda Ortigas, have instituted an intestate case for the administration and estate of their grandmother, Remedios Miranda de Ortigas.”

The report went on to say that “the Ortigas matriarch, who passed away in 2012 without leaving a will, is survived by her children Maria Victoria ‘Marivicki’ Ortigas de Arando, Eduardo Ortigas, Fernando Ortigas, Francisco ‘Paqui’ Ortigas III, Remedios ‘Nenuca’ Ortigas-Luzuriaga, and Jose Ortigas, who died in 1977, and is represented by his daughters Michelle and Francesca, the two new claimants.”

According to the grapevine, the two sisters have asked the Pasig Regional Trial Court for a collation of the late matriarch’s assets.”

The said assets had been allegedly transferred to favored heirs before she died, with Michelle and Francesca excluded from the arrangements.

Moral of the story: Fix your will before you’re too sick, too old, or too dead to do it.
