Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez on Thursday appealed for aid, saying food stock for victims of last week’s earthquake was enough for only 2 days.
Bottled waters are especially needed as the city suffers a water crisis after the quake damaged its water supply, Gomez told ANC’s Headstart.
“I’m really asking for the help and support of the people, if you could continue helping us here in Ormoc City. Many are having a hard time in evacuation centers and the last thing we want to happen is for them to run out of food and water,” he said.
Gomez said he designated civic groups, including the Rotary Club of Ormoc Bay and the Lions’ Club to receive in-kind donations. The Ormoc City Chamber of Commerce will receive cash donations, he said.
Donations can be deposited to the chamber’s Security Bank account, CA-0000-006654-493, he said.
Gomez said the initial cost of reconstruction was estimated at P240 million.
