One mother gave birth on a bus, another mother gave birth on a plane in April

Think this only happens in the movies? Think again.

On separate occasions, two Filipina mothers gave birth inside public transportations, one on land and one on air.

The bus had a Market-Market to Pacita route, and was forced to make a stop at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.

On the other hand, the plane was Manila-bound from Dubai and had to divert to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

Both were inspiring stories of modern day bayanihan.

According to a Facebook post now going viral, Arlin Belgueara was travelling with her husband and young son last Apr 14. She started complaining of birth pains somewhere between Sucat and Alabang.

A nurse inside the bus helped the mother deliver the baby. The driver changed his route and drove to the Asian Hospital for further medical asistance.

GMA News reports that the baby boy is now healthy. The owner of HM Bus Transport even went out of his way to pay for the hospital expenses of the couple. In turn, the baby boy was named Homer Miguel, HM for short.

On the other hand, Mary Grace Alejandro was travelling with her teenage son aboard PAL Flight PR 669 on Apr 16. She was seven months pregnant.

She started going through labor about three hours into the flight. The cabin crew assisted the woman.

Since both mother and daughter were in delicate condition, the pilot opted to make a stop in Hyderabad, India.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said that though the baby was in stable condition, she was on ventilator support. Full recovery is expected in six weeks.

The flag carrier has already gotten in touch with Alejandro’s family. Her husband and sister are expected to join her on Apr 18, Inquirer reports.

Congratulations to the two moms!
