One dead, another injured in hit-and-run on Commonwealth

A hit-and-run accident left one dead and another injured on Commonwealth Avenue, the infamous “killer highway” in Quezon City.

Antonio Villaren and a certain Janet were trying to cross the road–the widest in the Philippines with stretches that are 18 lanes across–at Barangay Holy Spirit when they were hit by an unidentified car and an unidentified motorcycle.

Janet died on the spot after being hit by a car, radio DZMM reports. Villaren was hit by a motorcycle and was brought to East Avenue Medical Center. According to the report, the two smelled of liquor.

Commonwealth Avenue has pedestrian overpasses and one was within walking distance of where the two tried to cross. Police said they may have been too lazy to cross where they were supposed to.
