In an interview with US media company Vice News, MNLF’s Nur Misuari revealed his choices for president and vice president in the national elections on May 9.
Poe he doesn’t like because she is an unknown, while Binay used to be his first choice (they were university classmates) until allegations of corruption against him.
According to Misuari, he was asked by Catholic leader Archbishop Socrates Villages who his choices were, and it boiled down to two names: Jesus Dureza (who was chairman of the a peace negotiating panel with the MILF) and Rodrigo Duterte.
“Because they are Mindanaoans. They know the problem, and the biggest problem of this country is peace,” explained Misuari.
More surprisingly, Misuari also picked Bongbong Marcos for vice-president despite the atrocities his father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, had inflicted on the Muslim community in Mindanao.
“I’m a Muslim,” said Misuari. “The fault of the father cannot be inherited by the son, Neither the father can be accused by of the wrongdoings of his son. I’m a Muslim.”
Unfortunately the video ended with that quote, and offered no explanation on why Misuari chose Marcos.
