With the Tropical Storm “Maring” finally out of the country, Metro Manila can look forward to clearer skies. The difficult task of reconstruction and recovery lies ahead, and that includes clearing Manila Bay of the trash that the rain brought out.
Ironically, most of this garbage was thrown indiscriminately. Out of sight and mind, the trash clogged up waterways and canals, contributing to widespread flooding in the metropolis. This is a lesson we are taught yearly, and one we forget quickly.
Hopefully, this time, the trash collected along Manila Bay will be disposed of properly.
