Not again: Man identified wrongly by newspaper as Leila de Lima’s driver-lover

May we have your attention please? Will the real Ronnie Dayan please stand up? We repeat, will the real Ronnie Dayan please stand up?

Finding a photo of Senator Leila de Lima’s former driver and alleged lover is proving to be more difficult than it should be.

On Sat, Aug 20, The Manila Times published on its front page a picture of Joven Janairo, a member of the special task force for anti-kidnapping, and named him Ronnie Dayan, De Lima’s alleged bagman.

Amira Gold Janairo, Joven’s sister, posted a complaint on Facebook to clarify the reckless mistake.

“The guy in the picture is my eldest brother. His name is Joven ‘Benjie’ Janairo. He is a member of the special task force for anti-kidnapping as far as I remember…If my brother is involved with this De Lima issue, we, his family will surrender him to the president and the republic of the Philippines. and we will stand as witnesses for the sake of the many.”

The photo also appeared online together with this report, though the image has since been removed.

Janairo and her family plan to file charges against those who published the photo, according to ABS-CBN News.

Last week, a showbiz reporter was also identified as De Lima’s driver.
