No need to panic.
“The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) on Wednesday said there is no tsunami alert in the Philippines, following a powerful 8.2-magnitude earthquake recorded in northern coast of Chile,” reports Ron B. Lopez in Manila Bulletin Online.
Arnold Melosantos, PHILVOLCS supervising science research specialist, that the tsunami warning is in effect only in the areas of Chile, Peru and Ecuador, while a tsunami watch is implemented in Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.
