Are we going to take their word for it?
“In an interview with radio dzRB, Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma there is no spillover of the ‘possible threats’ in Davao and other parts of Mindanao to Metro Manila, noting security agencies are already on top of the situation,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to the report, “a security alert was raised in Davao City and Cagayan de Oro allegedly due to threats from the Abu Sayyaf, which wanted to sow terror in retaliation for the raid of their ‘bomb factory’ this month.” Abu Sayyaf bomb-making expert, Abdul Basit Usman, eluded arrest after the raid.
As such, President Benigno Aquino III himself has warned Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of the threats.
Coloma pointed out that “intelligence officials have not seen any unusual movements in Metro Manila.” He said, “There is no reason for worry.”
