Wreckage of the Cessna plane that went missing in January was found on Thursday — yet none of the six people aboard it survived, according to authorities in the province of Isabela.
“Sadly, there were no survivors. We delayed this briefing until the relatives of all the passengers and the pilot have been informed,” Constante Foronda, head of the Isabela Incident Management Team, said.
The Cessna 206 plane left Cauayan airport in Isabela on January 24 for the town of Maconacon carrying its pilot and five passengers, and was expected to land at 3pm on the same day. Yet an hour after it departed the airport, the plane was reported missing.
One eyewitness reported that it saw the plane crash into the Sierra Madre mountains.
Authorities only managed to find the crash site on Thursday, over a month after the plane was reported missing.
The search and rescue team are working to recover the remains of the crash victims, which will take three days.
In February, another Cessna plane carrying four passengers, including two Australians, crashed near the crater of the Mayon Volcano after it left the Bicol International Airport for Manila. None of them survived.
