Police are now in hot pursuit after the Monday night escape of two detainees of the Calbiga Municipal Police Station in Samar province.
The Police Regional Office 8 identified the jail escapees in a statement posted on its Facebook page yesterday as brothers Roel and Rodel Mabahin, aged 22 and 19 respectively. Both are single and jobless, and residents of Barangay (Village) Minata, Calbiga, Samar.
Roel was accused of carnapping while Rodel was accused of robbery with frustrated homicide, the statement added.
Initial investigation revealed that the brothers bolted out of jail on Monday night at 7:40pm. They stole a motorcycle owned by an Allan Nabual, which served as their getaway vehicle.
Bombo Radyo reported that the chief of the police station and other cops were out during the time and a non-uniformed personnel was the only one left at the station. Authorities believe the suspects were able to pick the jail’s padlock and threatened the non-uniformed personnel to help them escape, the report added.
The unidentified non-uniformed personnel managed to escape from his captors.
The suspects are reportedly armed and the public is advised to report their whereabouts immediately to the nearest authorities.
