The latest data straight from the Philippine National Police (PNP) disproved President Rodrigo Duterte’s claim that they are losing two police officers every day because of the war against drugs.
If the PNP is losing two cops a day, they should’ve reported at least 236 cops killed.
The truth is PNP lost seven (7) and injured 24 policemen in about four months (Jul1 – Oct 26), according to a report by ABS-CBN News on the data released by PNP.
This is even less than the initial number presented by the PNP to the Senate. The initial number was 9 policemen, but they later found out that two of the killed policemen were involved in a drug syndicate.
But we can all agree, that’s still seven cops too many.
The released PNP data includes the following statistics for the same timeframe:
1,725 – killed in police-conducted anti-drug operations
31,629 – arrests made
32,909 – anti-drug operations
751,703 – individuals surrendered due to Oplan Tokhang, which includes 54,702 alleged drug pushers and 697,001 drug users
