No food will be served at Cebu mayor’s oath-taking

Should the F&B industry take it as a bad sign that politicians are now going for simple ceremonies with no overflowing wine, eight-course dinners and lechon?

Following the trend started by incoming President Rodrigo Duterte on having a modest inauguration cermony, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña will be not serve food for the guests who will witness his oath-taking, ABS-CBN News reports.

He said that he wants to help cut costs since the city is facing financial problems. On his Facebook page, Osmeña proudly shared that not a single centavo will be spent for his inauguration.

Vice-President Leni Robredo will swear in Osmeña and councilors Alvin Arcilla, Mary Ann Delos Santos, Bebs Andales, Joy Young, Margot Osmeña and Jun Gabuya.

Osmeña will have a simple oath-taking ceremony at the Cebu City Sports Center, where more than five thousand people are expected to attend. After the oath-taking, a Mass will be follow at the Sacred Heart Parish.
