No DFA services during papal visit

Come on, guys, do we really need to do this?

Giving schools and offices a day off in order to avoid traffic in areas that will be visited by Pope Francis is one thing, but suspending consular services for five working days sounds like a recipe for migraine-inducing back logs.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday said consular services at the National Capital Region would be closed on January 15 to 19 during the visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines,” reports Nestor Corrales on Inquirer.net.

This includes the DFA Aseana Office along Macapagal Boulevard and all the agency’s satellite offices.

The report did not explain if the government agency will be adding extra working hours before or after the non-working week in order to cope with demands for passport issuance.

Proclamation No. 936 of President Benigno Aquino III has declared Jan 15, 16, and 19 as special non-working holidays in Metro Manila.
