Nigerian nabbed with 3.1 kgs of shabu

Customs officials on Friday arrested a Nigerian national at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for carrying some 3.1 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in his luggage.

According to GMA News, Sundai Michael Owobodore arrived at NAIA Terminal 1 aboard a Thai Airways Flight 624 and was set to stay at a posh hotel in Makati City. Deputy Customs commissioner Danilo Lim said Customs personnel at the NAIA intercepted the Nigerian man and recovered 3.137 kilos of shabu which was placed in false compartments in his luggage.

Lim said the man flew from Nigeria last Wednesday (17 April) to Egypt via Egypt Air, then to Bangkok and Manila via Thai Airways. Authorities say they are conducting follow up operations to trace who the luggage–and the drugs–was intended for.
