Woman dies after shielding sister from attacker

The 27-year-old woman who shielded her sister from a bolo-wielding attacker succumbed to multiple wounds yesterday.

Mary Catherine Gino-Oliveros expired at around 4 a.m. at the Manila East Medical Center due to blood loss. She sustained countless hack wounds while protecting her elder sister, Mary Christine Gino, from Richard Belasa.

Supt. Danilo Bacas of Taytay Police have filed murder and frustrated murder charges against Belasa, who is now the subject of a police manhunt.

According to the Inquirer, a jealous Belasa flew into a fit of rage and accused Christine of cheating on her.
