It’s that time of the year again when people lose fingers.
What to do when you step on a lit firecracker and it explodes on your foot? What to do when you lose a finger? ABS-CBN has some first aid tips.
Wash wound with running water and soap for around 15 minutes and then use a cloth to cover it.
You can use kitchen wrap or aluminum foil in the absence of cloth.
If you lose one of your fingers, look for it and once found, put inside a plastic bag with ice. Suggests Dr. Rey Salinel, “Kung hindi makita ang daliri, huwag nang paghirapan po. Ang importante maitakbo sa pinakamalapit na ospital.”
If eye gets injured, wash face gently and cover with cloth, but don’t scratch your eye.
Don’t put tomatoes or toothpaste on burns.
If you accidentally eat a piece of firecracker, eat egg whites: six to eight egg whites should be swallowed by children; eight to 12 for adults.
