Here’s some good news for the summer months. Water rates are set to go down by April following the announcement of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).
MWSS explained that water charges will be going down because of foreign exchange adjustments.
ABS CBN News reported that East Zone (Pasig, Taguig, Makati, Mandaluyong, Cubao and Balara in Quezon City, Marikina, San Juan and Antipolo-Rizal) customers serviced by Manila Water Company Inc. will experience a reduction of P0.44 per cubic meter from the basic charge of P28.29 per cubic meter. This translates to about a P9.89-savings for a regular household.
Water prices for the West Zone (Caloocan, Las Piñas, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Parañaque, Valenzuela, parts of Quezon City, a part of Makati, and parts of Cavite), which is serviced by Maynilad Water consumers will meanwhile be reduced by P0.16 per cubic meter from the basic charge of P33.97 per cubic meter.
