Valenzuela involves residents in fire fighting campaign

After two big fires in the city in February, the Valenzuela City government has decided to involve its residents in their fire-fighting programs, Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian announced.

In an Inquirer News report, Gatchalian said they are expanding their “Bantay Sunog” program to involve residents in fire-prone communities. This includes teaching them to use fire extinguishers and educating their children about not playing with matches and other fire hazards.

Gatchalian said they have identified some 90 fire-prone areas in the city. Aside from that they have also asked Maynilad to increase the number of fire hydrants all over the city.
