University of Philippines (UP) Manila Chancellor Manuel Agulto on Tuesday lifted the “no late payment” policy. The directive applies to all UP campuses and was ordered for immediate implementation fter a dialogue between him and UP teachers on Tuesday afternoon.
According to ABS CBN News, UP President Alfredo E. Pascual has also asked all UP chancellors “to allow a reasonable amount of time for registration and payment of fees.”
The policy reform stems from the recent suicide of UP Manila freshman Kristel Tajada. The 16-year-old was asked to go on a leave of absence after failing to settle her outstanding balance during the semester.
