Today is coldest day in Manila — so far this year

According to an ABS-CBN News report, the temperature in Metro Manila today “dropped to 18.1 degrees Celsius,” which is the lowest since the start of the year.

PAGASA noted the record-breaking temperature today at 5:55 a.m. at the UP Science Garden and that it’s because of the presence of the northeast monsoon (amihan) and the cold front.

According to PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio, the lowest temperature Manila has ever experienced was 15.1 C, which happened way back in Feb. 4, 1987.
