Tighter security in Malaysian Embassy

Makati City Police deployed additional police officers in front of the Malaysian Embassy at Tordesillas Street in Salcedo Village Makati today.

Sr. Insp. Benson Pimentel said the Malaysian embassy requested for additional security owing to possible protest rallies and incidence of violence. Bomb squads, SWAT personnel and additional men were sent to secure the perimeter.

According to ABS CBN News, the move stemmed from the mounting tension between Sultan Jamalul Kiram III and Malaysian forces in Sabah.

Pimentel noted that while there have been no actual threats, the additional forces are meant to ward off any untoward incident.
