The Metropolitan Manila Development Association has opened 300 slots in its Special Program for the Education of Students summer internship program.
The program is meant to give poor students an introduction to public service and also provide them with financial support, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said.
Interns will be assigned as public services assistants, computer operators, communication equipment operator assistants, accounting clerks, and records clerks.
MMDA Administrative Service director Lydia Domingo said the program is open to students between 17 and 25 years old with an annual family income of P128,000.
Applicants who are high school graduates are required to present their report cards and should have no grade lower than 75. Applicants who are in college should also present their class cards, Domingo said.
Aside from school records, applicants need to present their birth certificates, the income tax returns of their parents, and a certificate of good moral character from their barangay captain.
“If the parents of the applicant are informal workers such as carpenter, plumber, or vendor, a certificate from the barangay is needed,” Domingo said.
