Senators gearing up for showdown vote on RH Bill

Pro RH Bill senators are preparing to have a showdown vote in the Senate which they intend to schedule before Congress closes for a Christmas recess.

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who is one of the more vocal supporters of the RH Bill, said that it’s time to have the showdown and do some “head-butting.”

Santiago explained that they only need to have seven supportive senators if 13 members of the Senate are in attendance at the plenary session so that they can push to close deliberations and finally put the bill to passage even amendments are still not completed.

Santiago also stated that even if the bill does not pass on second and third reading, pro-RH bill senators will merely re-file it in the succeeding plenary sessions until it becomes law, the Business Mirror reported.
